On April 13 lots of people gathered in Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral and its yard to celebrate the Palm Sunday, one of the most beloved and beautiful Christian fests. Scouts from various chapters of the National Scout Movement of Armenia “HASK” were also among them- they came together to celebrate also Armenian Scouts’ Day. This year the Scoutmasters’ Council of HASK organized the celebration of the Armenian Scouts’ Day earlier- on April 13 which means that HASK chapters will have the opportunity to celebrate the day exactly on the 18th of April.
Celebration started with the children’s blessing traditional ceremony which was followed by the official part during which Oshin Peeromian, President of the National Scout Movement of Armenia and Gevorg Gasparyan, Chief Scout, had short speeches and welcomed the attendees.
Within the framework of Armenian Scouts’ Day celebration, “Masunk” folk music and dance group of HASK had an impressive appearance which was warmly accepted by the people.
Another important part of the celebration was socially useful work, carried out by the scouts who cleaned territory surrounding the Church. Meanwhile, HASK cub scouts and the children gathered near the Church made beautiful chalk drawings, colored special small statues and pictures.
The passers-by not only got information about the organization and its activities in the information pavilions but also took part in the construction of a small scout campsite.
New trips and jamborees are yet to come, and they will definitely also bring together the young people who got acquainted with scouting and got interested in it during the celebration of the Armenian Scouts’ Day.
